It is worth a look back at our achievements over the past year, particularly as we have just passed the first anniversary of the start of Robin Whitehead’s ministry here.
In terms of that which is measurable, the average attendance at the main 10.30am Service at St Thomas has increased from 43 in 2012 and 50 in 2013 to 59 in 2014.
The Easter Services this year had 432 attendees, compared with 327 last year and 186 in 2012.Last Christmas, the Services had 503 attendees, compared with 357 the year before and 311 the year before that. Financially, and given the support of the Friends, the generosity of the congregation and the fact that Robin does all this for free, we will have met our Parish Contribution to the Diocese, so are self sustaining!
All this is really good news, but the unmeasurables are of even greater importance and we can all be grateful for Robin’s engagement with almost every event that happens in the Parish, the quality and humour of his sermons and that he is available for everyone despite, supposedly, being out of Town for 2 days a week. He has also done so much to make the Church more welcoming, refresh the relationship with the School and to place the Church truly the centre of the community.
Great things are happening in the Parish – come and join us!
